Doran was born in San Francisco at the dawning of the aquarian age. He had his first exhibition at the age of 4 in a children’s art show at the Legion of Honor. His early artistic inspirations came from cartoons, Walt Disney, pop art and later in his teens graffiti, dadaism and surrealism.
Doran received his BFA in FineArts from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During his studies there he began experimenting with computers and multi media installations while continuing his fine art painting.
He attended the Academy ofArt University in San Francisco for a Masters degree in Computer Arts where he had an extensive education working with Macs, PCs and Silicon Graphics computers. He specialized in interaction design, motion graphics and video animation. This lead him to become a well known VJ (Video Jockey) traveling the world as a multi media artist performing with the top DJ’s and musicians. He also worked as a visual effects artist and compositor on feature films, TV commercials and music videos while continuing to VJ and doing UI design.
Today, Doran is known as a hybrid artists who combines all his versatile passions incorporating UI/UXdesign, VJ’ing, video editing, filming, photography, web-social media, computer graphics, digital printing, post production and fine art into a seamless canvas of artistic expression.

As a fine artist, Doran has exhibited his paintings, designs, and digital prints together with celebrated Dutch and American artists in Holland, France, and the US. Some of the artists he exhibited with were Shepard Fairey, Micha Klein and Dadara. In 2011 he began working on his street art and re branding project called, “Peace Up World” that combines painting, graphics, and screen printing. It’s a form of social practice that he believes can transform the world.
Being a modern day artist, thinking outside of the box and keeping in stride with new technologies has always been Doran’s approach. Utilizing all the tools at his disposal to create a blend of art and technology that Plato could have only dreamed about.
He really loves multi tasking and doing it all!
